The EPOS comparison that actually matters: who controls your card payments

Software prices in any EPOS system comparison look similar until you add payment processing. Square's POS is free because every transaction pays 1.75%. Lightspeed adds a monthly fee if you process with anyone else. EposNow dropped its Dojo integration in 2026. Once your till only works with one payment provider, you can never negotiate your card rates again.

Seamless takes the opposite approach: integrate with the card machines UK operators actually use (Dojo, SumUp, Teya and Zettle), charge a transparent software fee, and let you move provider whenever you get a better rate. Work out what that means for your site with our POS cost calculator.

Upgrading from a cash register or legacy till rather than another EPOS? Everything in the comparison above still applies, and the jump is bigger: itemised sales, kitchen printing and card payments that reconcile themselves. Read our guide to moving beyond Casio-style cash registers.

Thinking of moving?

Switching from another EPOS system

Switching from EposNow

EposNow switched off its Dojo integration in April 2026, leaving Dojo users keying totals by hand or moving to Epos Now Payments. Seamless pairs directly with your existing Dojo card machine, so you keep your terminals, your rates and your next-day payouts. We import your menu from an EposNow export (even a PDF works) and most sites are live within a week. There's no contract to sign, so you're never stuck again.

Switching from Square

Square's free POS is free because every sale runs through Square Payments at 1.75%. On steady card volume, a negotiated rate from a provider like Teya usually costs less than the "free" software. Seamless gives you a hospitality-first till with printing, tabs and tables included, and we'll import your menu for free. Read our full Square alternative breakdown.

Switching from Lightspeed

Lightspeed requires Lightspeed Payments, and charges a monthly fee if you process with anyone else. With software from £79/month per licence, costs climb quickly for multi-till sites. Seamless starts at £0/month with a Teya introduction, works with four integrated payment providers, and has no annual contract. We cover the lock-in mechanics in our Lightspeed payment lock-in guide.
